Teaming with Scout.com for QB Reveal a Success

FOXSportsOhio.com and Scout.com Teamed Up to Live Stream Braxton Miller's College Commitment

On June 3, the nation's top high school quarterback, Braxton Miller from Huber Heights, Ohio, revealed his college commitment on FOXSportsOhio.com. The five-star quarterback prospect announced he will be attending the Ohio State University this fall.
Despite finding out only the day before the announcement, FOXSportsOhio.com and Scout.com writers Dave Berk, Bill Greene and Adam Jardy swiftly combined efforts to cover the announcement live.

Shortly after the press conference started, Berk and Greene hosted a live Q&A with Ohio State fans using the livestream video player and accompanying chat application.

FOX Sports Ohio promoted these online events through posts on Twitter and Facebook. The press conference and interactive chat drew about 4,000 viewers and captured the excitement of the announcement while incorporating the fans.

Past Intern Features Ford

Last summer, FOX Sports Ohio had the pleasure of having Kathleen Allen as our marketing and communications intern. She was an oustanding addition to the team and hopefully gained valuable work experience during her time with the network.

Following her internship, she returned to the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University. As part of her junior year's spring class assignment, Kathleen reconnected with FOX Sports Ohio to write a feature on our very own SVP & GM, Henry Ford, entitled "Henry Ford: The ambitious idea man behind FOX Sports Ohio."

This feature is not your traditional run-of-the-mill biography of an executive. That much is clear from the very first sentence:

"You would probably never imagine the general manager of a major television network speeding down the side of a Hawaiian mountain at 50 miles per hour on inline skates, but that’s exactly the type of thing Henry Ford likes to do."

Kathleen posted the entire article on her blog, "Everything in Between." Her feature on Ford is located here! (and scroll down). Check it out. Not only will you learn a lot about Henry Ford, you will also enjoy the style of a very talented writer!

Great job Kathleen. We are very proud of you!

Seemann and Smith come aboard!

FOX Sports Ohio is excited for the addition of two writers on www.FOXSportsOhio.com, both who will be providing more consistent support to the site. The first, Jeff Seemann, was one of the Blog Sports Ohio finalists and covered Ohio State spring football on the site for a stint.

He is the founder of "The Buckeye Battle Cry" (www.thebuckeyebattlecry.com/) and has now come on board at FOXSportsOhio.com to regularly cover not only Ohio State sports, but also college football news as well as Indians and Browns. He is also helping facilitate the website's various live streaming events and chats.

Seemann was born and raised in Canton, Ohio and majored in journalism at The Ohio State University. You can check out his latests post here: Reports: Nebraska to join Big 10.

Eric Smith is the site's newest addition, although like Seemann, he is not new to sports interactive media. His specialty is the Columbus Blue Jackets, and he comes to FOXSportsOhio.com from www.hockeybuzz.com, where he serves as blogger for all things Jackets. He is covering the NHL Draft and Blue Jackets news for FOXSportsOhio.com through a blog entitled Jackets Racket.

Smith has been a hockey fan his whole life and started out a Flyers fan until the Jackets entered the picture. He grew up in Indiana and is now in Columbus, where his son plays travel hockey. He says,"I am just a hockey nut and will watch any level just as long as its hockey!"

As the website's latest hockey guru, he promises to give a strong opinion and asks that fans offer the same in return. You can read his latest post by clicking on him!
