Over-the-Rhine Kitchen is Cincinnati's Oldest Soup Kitchen and serves people who lack the financial means, mental capacity, housing, and/or the life skills to provide themselves with a hot, nutritious meal. Over-the-Rhine Kitchen sees the mentally ill, the elderly poor, the unemployed working poor and underemployed, and the homeless. Through their services, they seek to meet their basic needs for food, water and attempt to improve their quality of life.Volunteers are essential to the success of the Over-the-Rhine Kitchen. Volunteer opportunities include assisting in the preparation and serving of the meal, setting up the dining room and cleaning and setting up the kitchen and dining room for the next day. Food pickup and delivery on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Weekly participation to maintain food/supply storage rooms. Weekly participation in the pantry to restock shelves and in the pantry to bag groceries. Handyman/building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, appliances, and AC/heating.
