Maple Heights Student Video Wins Be On TV Contest

FOX Sports Ohio and the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) are excited to announce the winner of their Teen “Be On TV” contest that ran in support of National Teen Driver Safety Week October 16 thru 22. Ohio teens were encouraged to submit their own video telling their friends why it’s important to follow safe driving practices.

The video entitled “Texting While Driving” by students of Maple Heights High School has been selected by the network and ODPS to air during the Cleveland Cavaliers game this season.

Maple Heights’ winning video, made by and starring students Brandon Clay and Kadeem Hatten, offers a unique look at the dangers of texting while driving. The video will be posted here on FOXSportsOhio.com and on Facebook as well.

When reviewing the entries from all over the state of Ohio (approximately 30), ODPS and FOX Sports Ohio narrowed it down to six finalists, all whose videos will be posted on FOX Sports Ohio’s Facebook and YouTube pages.

Raising awareness for teen driver safety is critical because 16-year-olds have the highest crash rate per mile driven of any age group and motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among teens aged 16 to 18. In partnering with ODPS, FOX Sports Ohio hopes to raise awareness for this issue and promote smart and safe driving practices among Ohio’s teens.http://www.foxsportsohio.com/
