FOX Sports Ohio and the Columbus Blue Jackets
are excited to once again feature youth hockey players from all over Ohio in
the return of the “Shootout Showcase,” presented by Scotts Miracle-Gro.
This season, sixteen youth hockey clubs from
around the state entered teams to compete in the single elimination shootout
tournament.
Each team consists of three shooters and one goalie. The following
organizations will be represented: The Columbus Chill Youth Hockey Association,
Columbus Blue Jackets Girls Hockey, Easton Youth Hockey Association, Newark Ice
Hockey Association, Columbus Ice Hockey Club, Capital Amateur Hockey
Association, North Kentucky Youth Hockey Association, Butler County Youth
Hockey Association, Findlay Amateur Hockey Association, and Troy Bruins Youth
Hockey.
On this Friday, March 1st, when
the Blue Jackets head to Chicago to take on the Blackhawks at 8:30pm, FOX
Sports Ohio will air the first shootout during the Blue Jackets Live pregame
show at 8pm. Highlights from this first shootout between Easton Youth Hockey
Association and Columbus Blue Jackets Girls Hockey will also air during an
intermission and in the postgame edition of Blue Jackets Live.
The network will continue to air one
shootout every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Blue Jackets game
through Sunday, April 21st, whittling down to the final two teams. The
final two teams will compete live at Nationwide Arena on Saturday, April 27th,
when the Jackets host the Predators at 7pm. FOX Sports Ohio will televise
the final shootout live.
The “Shootout Showcase” will additionally be
featured with a recap during Slap Shots, the 30-minute week-in-review
magazine show that highlights the Jackets recent matchups. A new episode of Slap
Shots airs on FOX Sports Ohio every Monday at 6pm.
